Alabama Troy University student-athletes turned in a record-breaking
semester in the classroom as 41 Trojans posted a perfect 4.0 grade
point average, while 222 student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or higher
in the fall semester. Troy honored its 3.0 and 3.5 Club members
at halftime of the men's basketball game Thursday night.
"The number one reason our student-athletes are here is to
earn their degree, and we are extremely proud of the work they did
in the classroom during the fall," Athletic Director John Hartwell
said. "We have made significant upgrades to our student-athlete
academic support services, and it is very uplifting to see our student-athletes
succeed in the classroom."
Of the 222 student-athletes who were recognized Thursday night,
113 finished the fall semester with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Additionally,
nine of Troy's 16 athletic programs finished the fall with at least
a 3.0 combined GPA.
