Sun Belt Announces Individual Academic Honors, Troy Sets Another Record

TROY, Alabama – The Sun Belt Conference announced the members of the 2014-15 Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's List on Wednesday, with a total of 183 Troy student-athletes earning their way onto the lists. Troy's 97 Commissioner's List selections were the most of any school in the conference.

Student-athletes that earn a 2014-15 GPA between 3.00 and 3.49 are named to the Academic Honor Roll while those with a GPA 3.50 and above are named to the Commissioner's List.

Troy's 183 selections represent 58 percent of the Troy student-athlete body. In addition, Troy's overall student-athlete body GPA of 3.01 was the highest in the University's recorded history.

Troy Athletics Recognizes Academic Success Thursday Night

TROY, Alabama – Troy University student-athletes turned in a record-breaking semester in the classroom as 41 Trojans posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average, while 222 student-athletes earned a 3.0 GPA or higher in the fall semester. Troy honored its 3.0 and 3.5 Club members at halftime of the men's basketball game Thursday night.

"The number one reason our student-athletes are here is to earn their degree, and we are extremely proud of the work they did in the classroom during the fall," Athletic Director John Hartwell said. "We have made significant upgrades to our student-athlete academic support services, and it is very uplifting to see our student-athletes succeed in the classroom."

Of the 222 student-athletes who were recognized Thursday night, 113 finished the fall semester with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Additionally, nine of Troy's 16 athletic programs finished the fall with at least a 3.0 combined GPA.
